秘方新编(改编自传统相声)
我最近水土不服,浑身痒痒,洋人医生说我花粉过敏,得花钱买药。我一穷中国学生天生和他们洋人DNA不同,而且洋药都有不同副作用,所以我决定向我的中国医生朋友要个秘方(决不是因为嫌贵),我朋友跟我说他祖上正好传下来一个秘方,专治痒痒,而且正好他要回国,所以可以等他一到国内就向他爹要来寄给我。我是万分感谢,当天请他在墨尔本最大的馆子吃了一顿。第二天开车把他送到机场惜惜而别。我哥们还真够朋友不到一个星期祖传秘方就从中国寄来了,看到大信封我万分激动,手心出汗,折磨我近一个月的过敏症就要治愈了!我打开信封,里面是一个大纸包,我打开纸包发现里面还有一个纸包,我继续打开里面的这个信封并希望这是最后一个。不出所料,祖传秘方就在里面,而且只有俩字“挠挠”!

The Packet Agency Opening
5月3日にメルボルンのTCBアップランズ・ギャラリーでオープンしたザ・パケット・エイジェンシー展。
海外のアーティスト16人が出展したこの展覧会のオープニングは、実際に送られてきた作品を封筒や包装から取り出すことで始まった。
壁には次々と作品、作者からの手紙そして封筒が展示されていった。
それでも展示スペースへ入ると一瞬そこがギャラリーで無いかのように思えたのは、そこに、封筒を開けるたびに好奇心をそそられた来訪者とそれを見守る人がいたことだと思う。
作品を取り出すときはまるで生き物を眠りから覚ますような、クリスマスにプレゼントを開けるような期待感と幸せな、普段のオープニングでは感じられない空気があった。
遠く海を越えて送られたきた作品が、メルボルンに集められ。それぞれ作家たちの生活空間を抜け出してきた作品は、展覧会と言う形で、新しい空間を作り上げた。今回のオープニングは、展覧会でギャラリー関係者以外、なかなか味わえないであろう、楽しさを発見させてくれる、素晴らしいオープニングだったと思う。

Hi, this is Jesse Birch, the curator of The Packet Agency. I really appreciate the responses so far, and would love to hear more about how people felt about this show, especially how they engaged (or disengaged) with it. Judging from the photographs I have seen so far it looks like the participants really got into the unpacking of packets. I am really interested in the possibilities of disparate communities interacting through limited means. For me the Packet agency was in some ways intended to be an exercise of translation (of both context and form). A translation that began as packets crossed oceans, and arrived in a place that existed to the artists for the most part in their imaginations. Then in the gallery…I wonder…was the imagination reversed? Walter Benjamin proposes, “No poem is intended for the reader, no picture for the beholder, no symphony for the listener”. Did you packet agency participants (at the TCB end) feel that the work spoke more to you than it might have if you came to the gallery with all of the work already on the walls? If you were just a beholder?
I would also like to send a huge thank you to Lisa Radford and all of the folks at TCB and all Packet Agents both on the sending and receiving ends.
